Submitted as Followups to September 13th Meeting
Sue Dadd
At our last meeting we noticed that the pie charts showed a significant drop
in our use of groundwater with the consequential increase in imported MWD
water.
I called Rubio Canyon and the guy there pointed out that this drop was
accounted for by perchlorate pollution causing Lincoln Water to cease using
groundwater at all (this will change with the new filtration system), and
that contaminants in Las Flores' wells means that Las Flores must dilute
their groundwater by 50% MWD water to comply with safety standards. So far
Rubio Canyon has no contaminants and they are using 60% groundwater and
importing 40% MWD water.
